Hello. I am Patrick Mahon and I am a relative newcomer to Sparta, having meet my wife during

Covid, had our first date in the Stop and Shop parking lot, socially distanced of course, got engaged

on the Boardwalk at Lake Mohawk for Christmas 2021, and married in 2022. Though new to

Sparta, I have been a resident of Sussex County for many years, growing up in Sandsyton, attended

Kittatinny Regional High School, and have lived in Frankford and Hampton.

When I graduated college, I was unsure of what direction I was heading so I went to work for my

father’s moving company while I figured it out. I was thrown into the fire almost immediately after

graduation, having to help him run the business after his office manager quit. I learned all aspects of

running the business, from working on the trucks, to running the office, to doing estimates, to

training new drivers and new employees. One of my friends who was a teacher and helping on the

trucks one summer witnessed my interactions with the employees and suggested that I would make a

good teacher. Well, those words helped change my direction to education and I am a special

education/Social Studies teacher at Kittatinny Regional High School, currently in my twenty first

year teaching.

Thanks to my wife Wendy, who often volunteers me to lend a helping hand somewhere because of

my experiences in education, moving, and as a former CDL truck driver (just ask the Sparta

Marching Band), I was introduced to Mike Rennie, owner of 3D Driving School, and before I knew

it, I was behind the wheel as an instructor. I have just completed my first month instructing and am

looking forward to many more years of teaching students to drive.

Outside of instructing, teaching, volunteering, and an assortment of other odd jobs I help out with, I

enjoy spending time with my wife and our blended family, attending Mets, Yankees, and Devils

sporting events, visiting Ocean City, NJ, taking in different performances whether it be high school

or country music concerts, and getting out on the trail hiking and helping preserve history as a

Historic Property Steward for the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.
